What's the difference?

I picked up some fresh beef from Jerry's Market here in Tecumseh. I asked for the price on a pound of beef that was already cut up for stir fry. It was over 4.50 a pound. Ouch. So I told the man I'd like 2 lbs of the beef stew chunks. He looked at me and said, what's the difference? I said, it's cheaper by 75 cents!

And besides, when I get home, I could cut it up in thinner pieces (and get more for my buck) and throw it on my flat long skillet and cook it up.

Yum. Made fajitas...oooh la la.

The kids put away the dishes---WHOA! No arguments here. Okay...

We're stuffed to our gills.

Oh the snickerdoodles I made last night? I didn't have vanilla extract. But had almond extract. That was actually very good...giving it the tang...yum.

Wait, I think I did blog that already. I apologize.

Really nothing exciting going on today. A lovely day outside, and full tummies today, and I'm feeling good...just can't stand or walk for long period of time w/o having some back pain.

Well I supposed I should empty the washer and throw it in the dryer.

Ahhh...

Long time no see!

A dear friend of mine came out yesterday for dinner and for a much needed visit.

The day started out with...let's wait and see what I'm in the mood for dinner. Knowing there would be an ice cream social in the afternoon, I know my appetite will change.

My friend contacted me asking what he could bring. I basically said, "a big appetite!"

Well he sure did.

What did we have for dinner? Well, I picked up a couple pizzas from Little Caesar's. $5.00 per pie...a good deal. However, when both pies were completely consumed, there went my hopes for a slice or two for my lunch.

Ah. Talk about hungry guys.

My friend shared with us about his sister, who is dying from cancer. I feel for him. I do pray I've given him some comfort knowing I'll be there if he ever needs me.

My husband is pretty quiet. He doesn't say a whole lot. If there is silence, usually I'll pick up and make some noise and keep going...having a fun time of laughter and jokes. But also some serious moments.

I'm very glad he doesn't live too far from us. Only oh...ehh....40 minutes? I'll have to ask him.

We plan to see more of each other.

Dear friend, please remember you and your sister and family are in my prayers.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

When I got home little late from a meeting after work yesterday, first thing was asked: "What's for dinner?"

I go into the kitchen and poke through and throw out choices. Many were turn down. So I opened the freezer and saw my spring rolls.

I closed the freezer.

Took a deep breath and opened the freezer again. I called out to Ashley and BFF if they'd want that for dinner? With rice?

Sure.

So I quietly sobbed...took a deep breath and put out 15 spring rolls on a baking sheet and put in the oven.

I cooked rice.

See, my dear friends, the spring rolls were homemade by Vonnie's stepmom who is from Thailand. She makes the best spring rolls in the whole, big, wide, very big wide world! This is the real deal stuff! Oh they are to die for.

When Vonnie and Brenda were off in VA helping stepmom out, they made up batches of spring rolls and promised me my own batch.

I can be quite selfish, you see, when it come to certain type of food I enjoy and it's a rare treat.

Golden Graham cereal is mine. Nobody else. If there are no cereal left in the kitchen, I might share.

I'm the same with these spring rolls. After all, it's more appealing than making spaghetti or pancakes for dinner.

So I shared the spring rolls with my husband, Ashley and BFF, and myself. Oh yeah, Josh was at Milkboy's house for the night...

Oh the sacrifice was so sweet...and delicious! Thank you, dear stepmom, for the yummy spring rolls. They are out of the world and very much worth sharing even if I didn't really want to.
